I'm trying to setup a game server, but my router has a bug which blocks all UDP traffic even if port forwarded or even DMZed. However, UPnP does work. So I am trying to port forward manually using upnpc.

Tried both the 0511 and 0609 builds. Both compiled + installed just fine. minissdpd also installed fine.

Running upnpc -l gives me the following output:
Code:
List of UPNP devices found on the network :
 desc: http://192.168.2.1:80/igd.xml
 st: urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:InternetGatewayDevice:1

Found a (not connected?) IGD : http://192.168.2.1:80/upnp/control?WANPPPConnection
Trying to continue anyway
Local LAN ip address : 192.168.2.101
GetConnectionTypeInfo failed.
Status : , uptime=2991498s, LastConnectionError :
  Time started : Sun Jul 25 05:47:50 2010
MaxBitRateDown : 0 bps   MaxBitRateUp 0 bps
GetExternalIPAddress() returned 401
GetExternalIPAddress failed.
GetGenericPortMappingEntry() returned 401 (Invalid Action)

To me the problem lines seem to be the 'Found a (not connected?) IGD' (what does not connected? imply?) and the max bitrate up/down being 0 and external IP returning an error.

Server is on a fixed IP and can connect to internet. In general I know UPnP works when I've used it with Bittorrent clients. Lastly, upnpc on my windows machine gives the same error.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

(not connected?) is displayed when miniupnpc failed to get the connection status.
If some other software works well with UPnP, it looks like miniupnpc has a bug... What is the exact model and version of your router ?

Name: Belkin Surf
Model: F7D2301 v1
Firmware (if applicable): 1.00.16

As you can tell from the UDP behavior of the router it's firmware is all kinds of wrong. I would not be surprised if it is using some obscure standard. *shrug*
I know that programs like ktorrent and utorrent do work fine with upnp though, so I suppose it can't be something too out of the ordinary.

Just to make sure I understand how this works, I am not required to put upnpd on the router somehow am I? Just using the client to forward should be sufficient?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Ok I recompiled with debug on (I think. I just changed the cflag's dndebug to ddebug), which gives me this output, if it helps:

Looking at this now, it's trying to connect to WANPPPConeection, but I am not using PPP; coudl that be the problem? Looks like it should be using WANIPConnection, or maybe WANCommonInterfaceConfig?

I made some changes/fixes in that code recently, so maybe it will work with miniupnpc-1.5.
